Lesson Objectives - Students will be able to...

• Introduce themselves with the vocabulary words in unit 9.  They will then work on the synonyms/antonyms section with a partner.
• Brainstorm ideas that describe the narrator's personality from the story, "The White Umbrella." (page 10b)
• Analyze the author's use of mood and tone in the telling of her story. (Page 11a)

Homework - Print out the flash cards from the vocabulary unit 9 words using the following website: http://www.sadlier-oxford.com/vocabulary/index.cfm .  If students do not have internet access, they may write them out on their own index cards.
