Lesson Objectives - Students will create their own examples of print ads using persuasive techniques, advertising claims, and the elements of advertising.  They will evaluate a sample generated by another group and compose an analysis that explains the level of effectiveness of that particular ad.
Homework - Find 2 examples of full-page print advertisements that reflect the following ideas:

  • Persuasive Techniques - pages 112-113
  • Advertising Claims - page 115
  • Elements of Advertisements - page 121

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.7.1 Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.7.8 Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, assessing whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is relevant and sufficient to support the claims.
