Lesson Objectives - Students will be able to identify and critique the use of persuasive techniques as well as advertising claims found in the various forms of today's media sources.  Students will also be able to define the target audience in advertising.  
Homework - Bring in a copy of a magazine to donate to the class.  These will provide ads for future assignments over the course of this unit.

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.7.1 Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.7.8 Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, assessing whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is relevant and sufficient to support the claims.
