Lesson Objectives - Students will be able to apply elements of O. Henry's biography to his short story, "A Retrieved Reformation." They will then construct examples of the compare/contrast essay outlines based on personal knowledge and interest. Students will adapt these outlines to explain the similarities/differences found in two of O. Henry's short stories.
Homework - Students will begin writing their test essay rough draft: Compare/contrast O. Henry's stories "After Twenty Years" and "A Retrieved Reformation." The completed rough draft is due at the beginning of class on Thursday.

You will have to work on two articles in Achieve 3000 every week on your own. You can do this at home or during class once you have completed your assignment.
There what you do....
- Log in to A3000
- Click on the assigned article. You may have to scroll to find it.
- Complete the "Before Reading Poll" first
- Read the "Thought Question," but but don't answer it until you have finished reading the article
- Click on "Article" and read it
- Go back and complete the "Thought Question," then move on to the "Activity"
- Check the Important Due Dates above to see when the assignment is due

- The 2017-2018 school year is Mr. Swain's 20th year at Conrad as a teacher. During this time, he has seen many positive changes with the Conrad facilities and programs. Mr. Swain completed his master's degree in educational technology and is looking forward to using these skills in the classroom.
