Lesson Objectives - Students will continue their analysis of poetry samples. Today, they will examine a narrative poem, "The Highwayman." Students will identify the author's use of mood, tone, and metaphor. They will then have time to continue their rough drafts for their persuasive essay.
Homework - Students are to complete their rough drafts for their persuasive essay tonight. They will have time in class to complete their final draft tomorrow. Both rough and final drafts are due on Thursday along with pages 1-7.

Achieve 3000
You will have to work on two articles in Achieve 3000 every week on your own. You can do this at home or during class once you have completed your assignment.
There what you do....
- Log in to A3000
- Click on the assigned article. You may have to scroll to find it.
- Complete the "Before Reading Poll" first
- Read the "Thought Question," but but don't answer it until you have finished reading the article
- Click on "Article" and read it
- Go back and complete the "Thought Question," then move on to the "Activity"
- Check the Important Due Dates above to see when the assignment is due

- The 2017-2018 school year is Mr. Swain's 20th year at Conrad as a teacher. During this time, he has seen many positive changes with the Conrad facilities and programs. Mr. Swain completed his master's degree in educational technology and is looking forward to using these skills in the classroom.
