Lesson Objectives - Students will brainstorm various genres of narratives (with examples) and explore the traits that make these stories engaging to the reader.  They will then decide which personal experience they will use to compose their own narratives.

Embedded Assessment #1 - Write a personal narrative about a significant incident in your life in which you had to make a choice:
  • Describe the choice.
  • Explain the consequences of that choice.
  • Reflect on what you learned as a result of this experience.

Homework - REMINDER: The Reader Response Sheet is due a week from this upcoming Monday!  If you have not started it, what are you waiting for?

Common Core State Standards - CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.7.3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.
