Lesson Objectives - Students will continue their study of the Unit 15 Vocabulary words by making their flash cards. With the aid of the Common Core Assessment Workbook, they will then engage in close reading strategies that will help review examples of the literary analysis writing style. This is a three step process that will help them practice for upcoming assessments.
  • Monday- Students will analyze a writing model of a literary analysis
  • Tuesday-Thursday - They will practice using this model in their own writing.
  • Today & Tomorrow - They will perform the skills needed to develop and publish a working model.
Homework - Students will continue to read their book for their April Reader Response Sheet.

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.8.2.c - Use appropriate and varied transitions to create cohesion and clarify the relationships among ideas and concepts.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.8.2.d - Use precise language and domain-specific vocabulary to inform about or explain the topic.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.8.2.e - Establish and maintain a formal style.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.8.2.f - Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the information or explanation presented.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.8.8 - Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, using search terms effectively; assess the credibility and accuracy of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others while avoiding plagiarism and following a standard format for citation.
