Parents & Guardians - Today, students will receive a copy of the Reader Response Sheet (RRS) that is due on the last day of every calendar month. Over the course of each month, students are to read an approved book and answer questions based on it. For each marking period, students are to submit between 2-3 Reader Response Sheets. Late submissions will only receive partial credit. These assignments account for 10% of the final grade per marking period.
Lesson Objectives - Students will...
- gain an awareness of my behavior expectations as well as the consequences for not meeting them.
- receive their fist two Reader Response Sheets (September and October) as well as an explanation of my expectations in completing them.
- be able to identify the three types of questioning that we will see over the course of the year:
- Determining meaning
- Interpreting meaning
- Extending meaning
Homework - Students are to find a book for their September RRS assignment over the holiday weekend.
We start the real work on Tuesday, so be prepared!
